Cattle slaughter up 11.2% in the third quarter

The slaughter of cattle grew 11.2% between July and September 2022, compared to the same period last year and reached 7.81 million heads. In comparison with the second quarter of this year, the advance is 5.8%. According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), which made the release today (11), in Rio de Janeiro, the complete results for the third quarter of 2022 and for the federation units will be presented on December 7th.

Still in the comparison between the third quarters of 2022 and 2021, the survey showed that there was an increase of 4.4% with the slaughter of 14.37 million pigs and 2.1% compared to the second quarter of this year. There was also an increase (0.9%) in chickens with the slaughter of 1.55 billion heads and 3.1% in relation to the immediately previous quarter.

carcasses

The first results also indicate that, in the third quarter of this year, there were 2.12 million bovine carcasses, which means an increase of 11.1% compared to the same three months of the previous year and of 9.2% compared to the second quarter of 2022.

Still according to statistics, the weight of pig carcasses reached 1.33 million tons. “Increase of 3.8% in relation to the third quarter of 2021 and an increase of 1.4% in relation to the immediately previous quarter”, informed the IBGE.

Also between July and September 2022, the weight of chicken carcasses reached 3.73 million tons. The volume is equivalent to a 2.2% increase over both Q3 2021 and Q2 2022.

Milk

Statistics with preliminary results also indicate that the purchase of raw milk made by establishments that operate under some type of sanitary inspection (federal, state or municipal) reached six billion liters in the third quarter of 2022.

This “value represents a reduction of 3.4% compared to the volume recorded in the third quarter of 2021 and an increase of 11.1% compared to that obtained in the second quarter of 2022”, said the IBGE.

Eggs

With the production of 1.01 billion dozen chicken eggs in the third quarter of 2022, the result represents a decrease of 0.2% compared to the same period in 2021 and an increase of 1.4% compared to the second quarter of 2022. .

Leather

The first results of the Quarterly Leather Survey – which investigates tanneries that tanning at least 5,000 whole units of bovine rawhide per year – indicated the production of 7.89 million whole pieces of rawhide in the third quarter of 2022.

The volume corresponds to an increase of 5.4% compared to the third quarter of 2021, and also compared to the immediately previous quarter.
