In broad daylight, criminals disguised as police officers stole luxury clothing from the shelves of a shopping centre in Bucaramanga.

Six thieves robbed a jewelry store located on the second floor of the San José Plaza shopping center, located on Carrera 17C and Calle 56, in Bucaramanga, Santander, at 9:25 a.m. this Tuesday, July 23.
The criminals, who disguised themselves – two as police officers, one as a shipping company worker and three in plain clothes – held the security guard at gunpoint and intimidated the store’s employees into handing over all the jewellery in the display cases.

A man wearing a red T-shirt and a dark cap stayed outside to act as a ‘bell-ringer’ and to warn them in case the police or the security company arrived at the scene. Meanwhile, the thieves emptied the display cases and took a large sum of money in jewellery.
Once they had put the valuables in a bag, the thieves went down the escalator, while customers and employees of other commercial establishments in the mall shouted all kinds of phrases to get the criminals caught.

After descending the stairs, three other accomplices of the six criminals were waiting for them on motorcycles to escape the scene under the gaze of dozens of people who were walking through the shopping center at that time.
The man in the red shirt and cap did not go down the stairs and fled on his own.

Through security cameras and fingerprints taken from shop windows and doors by forensic personnel, authorities have fully identified several of the assailants, who are now being sought to be put behind bars.
“A criminal entered the premises pretending to be an employee of a courier company, and then five other criminals entered and stole some trays containing rings, chains and earrings,” said the commander of the Metropolitan Police of Bucaramanga, Brigadier General Henry Yesid Bello Cubides.
Apparently, some of the thieves belonged to the gang ‘Los Chupis’.
“Making this comparison, the fingerprints correspond to some members we captured and are called ‘Los Chupis’ for qualified and aggravated theft. We are going to present these elements to the Prosecutor’s Office, the criminal report, the statements and make the contribution of more than 50 videos that we have already collected on the spot to once again request the arrest warrants,” added Vanguardia, referring to a police source consulted.
