Castillo divides: “Today the rich march”

Castillo divides: "Today the rich march"

Irritated and angry, he showed yesterday before the press when he was asked about his attendance, next Monday, March 28, at Congress, where the vacancy motion against him will be debated and voted on.

The president had finished inspecting the start of classes at the Niño Jesús de Praga school, located in Lurigancho-Chosica, when he took advantage of the crowding of a group of people who were around to take a dip in popularity and improvise, as if he were a candidate, a speech that generates division in the country. Quite the opposite of what he was to offer in plenary in his message to the nation.

Emboldened by the crowd that shouted “close Congress,” Castillo asked the attendees: “When you go out to the streets (…), you don’t mobilize for pay, right? Or is there someone who has paid you to mobilize? ?”, insinuating that those who participate in the demonstrations in favor of his resignation or vacancy do so because they receive money in exchange.

The questions continued. He pointed out that the money (which they are supposedly paid to march) should be used for the children; however, he said, it is used to make the “corrupt” citizen scream, referring to him. He indicated that the poor used to march for a “demand” and that “the rich now do it because they want something else.”

“Something strange has happened in the country; years ago, the poor marched through the streets to ask for vindication. Today the rich march because something else (sic) has been taken from them, today they march because they want something else,” he said.

At that moment of electoral campaign euphoria, a journalist asked him about the vacancy motion he is facing. When asked, the head of state got excited and asserted that he was going to attend on the 28th, even if it was in “any corner of the country”, repeating that “I have not come to steal a penny” from the country. He rebuked the press pointing out that he only talks about issues such as sewage or health care and they question him about Congress.

cornered

Alberto Goachet, communicator and general director of Fahrenheit DDB, analyzed Pedro Castillo’s behavior and said that it is a sign of cornering and lack of resources in the situation he faces.

He also indicated that the narrative of “rich against poor” is used as a strategy of divisionism, trying to show that “he is interested in the people and the most unprotected”, but that, at this point, it no longer has the same effect as at the beginning, in the campaign. electoral.

“We see aggressive and divisive narrative reactions when he is cornered. This happens to any person who does not have the resources or solvency to answer calmly; he goes out of his plan,” explained Goachet.

Castillo, by expressing himself in this way, contradicted what he promised during his speech on March 15, when he voluntarily asked to go to Congress.

“The plan was, according to what the premier said, to build bridges, stop the confrontation and explain everything on the 28th; this is not strategy. He does not begin to plow the ground for a Congress that wants to listen to him, but so that it receives him more surly,” added Goachet.

Keep in mind

  • Pedro Castillo was summoned by Congress on Monday, March 28, to present his arguments against the vacancy.
  • The president asked to attend Parliament one day after the admission of the vacancy motion was approved. His presentation did not add anything new and he copied 52 parts of Prime Minister Aníbal Torres’s speech.
