As is known, within tourism, the Casino Games and Slot Machines sector was one of the hardest hit by the pandemic and this situation is expected to be reversed during 2022, mainly with the opening of the capacity in the premises to 100%.
Due to this, the Vice Minister of Tourism, Isabel Álvarez, and the incoming general director of Casino Games and Slot Machines of Mincetur, Eduardo Sevilla, met with the union representatives of the sector, among them: the National Society of Games of Chance ( SONAJA), the Chamber of Slot Machine Operators of Peru, the Chamber of Slot Machine Operators (COT), the Peruvian Association of Entertainment and Games of Chance (APEJA), and the Association of Tourism and Entertainment Centers of Peru (ATCE).

Deputy Minister Álvarez pointed out that it was agreed to work on a series of mechanisms so that these businesses can be consolidated again, as it is an important segment that creates thousands of jobs both directly and indirectly.
In this sense, the Mincetur has been promoting public-private articulation and the open-door policy to reactivate the economy. In addition, work is being done to improve processes for granting permits and inspections, through the implementation of ISO certifications, anti-bribery controls, among others, which will strengthen transparency and good governance.
As it is recalled, once the conditions were met, in 2020, the Mincetur worked hard to reactivate the activity by preparing the “Sector Sanitary Protocol before COVID-19 for Gaming Rooms”, which established some mandatory conditions compliance.
“During the pandemic, the Casino Games and Slot Machines premises adapted to the biosafety protocols, which they have been fully complying with. Now, we need new tools to recover lost jobs, in addition to providing security for new investments in this area. We are on our way to that,” said Vice Minister Álvarez.
