The burning of garbage and fire as a cleaning method are the main causes of plant mass fires in our country and the Fire Department asks the population to be more aware to avoid these fires in which they must dispatch resources that can be used in other emergencies.
“Until yesterday we had attended 3,928 plant mass fires nationwide, most of these are being difficult to control, the strong breezes, the high temperatures, people are drinking between 10 in the morning and 2 in the burning hours are late and unfortunately we are having situations in which we have to move a large amount of resources, but what worries us the most are interface fires, when they move from the plant mass to structures or properties, for example the situation that we had close to the cargo area of the Tocumen Airport where a large number of structures were threatened and three vehicles fell prey to flames,” said Lieutenant Colonel Angel Delgado of the Fire Department.
