The agents of the Special Force to Fight Crime (Felcc) and in coordination with the Ombudsman for Children and Adolescents frustrated a case of human trafficking and smuggling when rescuing a newborn that was going to be sold by its parents.
The head of Gender and SLIM of the Ombudsman, Juan Carlos Honor, indicated that the case was denounced by the doctors of a municipal hospital, after they realized that a woman who gave birth registered under a false identity.
“A 28-year-old woman checks into a hospital with a forged photocopy of her identity card, the caesarean section is scheduled for today and the baby was born safe and soundbut when the doctors record the live birth system, other information about the mother appears,” the official explained.
Honor indicated that the Ombudsman’s multidisciplinary team arrived at the hospital and was able to verify that the case was human trafficking and smuggling for adoption purposes of a newborn, which is why the Felcc apprehended the two alleged buyers.
“The amount of the purchase is not yet known because the process is in the investigative stage, what is clearly known is that the parents had transacted with the buyers so that they take charge of all the expenses doctors until the baby is born and that after the birth the sale was going to be made for adoption purposes”, commented the head of Gender.
It also indicated that it has not been possible to interview the mother because she is hospitalized, however, The Ombudsman has already activated the protection protocol of the newborn.
