Casas da Mulher has a new system to collect data on services

The Ministry of Women launched, this Monday (9), the Una Data System for Brazilian Women’s Houses (CMB), developed in partnership with the Social Security Technology and Information Company (Dataprev). THE system national initiative aims to speed up care for women in situations of violence, avoid revictimization and collect strategic data for formulating public policies aimed at women.Casas da Mulher has a new system to collect data on services

The tool will also allow the analysis of regional demands, to make actions more efficient and targeted and improve the management of public equipment aimed at serving this public.

During the launch of the tool, the Minister of Women, Cida Gonçalves, said she believes that the Brazilian Women’s Houses National Data System will open the doors to a large database and information relating to violence against women and will contribute to planning government actions.

“Based on the data, we will decide where to invest, where to place the resources, what and how to request; guide all federal government policies and budgets towards what is actually necessary. This is fundamental and strategic for us to actually consolidate the policy to combat violence against women”, stated the minister.

“What has not been given, does not exist. What does not have information does not exist and is not a prerequisite for being able to reaffirm and establish a public policy”, stressed Cida Gonçalves.

According to the minister, from January to October this year, the ten Brazilian Women’s houses in operation provided 426,500 services to women in situations of violence, and the new system should expose a reality with even higher numbers. “By the time we have the system in operation, the data should increase, mainly because we will deliver, by 2026, 40 Casas Da Mulher Brasileira in the country. Today, we have 17 under construction. The numbers will be more staggering.”

Una System

The new tool will collect and organize, in a standardized way, data relating to services provided in Brazilian Women’s homes, with the aim of facilitating structured communication between units.

According to the Ministry of Women, since 2013, data collection was done manually and, later, through another platform, which was assessed as technically inadequate. From November 2023, technical meetings between the Ministry of Women and Dataprev sought a solution adapted to the guidelines of the Brazilian Women’s Houses, based on each service form provided, which resulted in the Una system.

“With the launch of the Una system, we take an important step to strengthen the Casas Da Mulher Brasileira, ensuring that accurate and organized data serve as a basis for effective actions to combat violence against women”, highlighted the ministry.

The president of Dataprev, Rodrigo Ortiz D’Avila Assumpção, responsible for developing the system, clarified that Una has the capacity to integrate information and services provided in different areas of government. “Exponentially, we will gain the ability to understand government activity and will also have connections with states and municipalities where, in fact, politics takes place and where much-needed deliveries are made.”

In the first phase, Una will be implemented and monitored in the Brazilian Women’s homes in São Luís and Teresina, so that the necessary adjustments can be made. In the coming months, there will be team training, partnerships with institutions and the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Fight Against Hunger to expand the integration and benefits of the system.

Units

The Casa da Mulher Brasileira is one of the axes of the Women Living Without Violence Program, resumed by the Ministry of Women in March last year. The objective of these units is to facilitate access to specialized services to guarantee conditions to combat violence, empower and give women economic autonomy.

Focusing on multidisciplinary and humanized care for women, the houses integrate, in the same space, several specialized services aimed at those who face situations of violence: reception and screening; psychosocial support; police station; court; Public Prosecutor’s Office, Public Defender’s Office; childcare – toy library (accommodates children up to 12 years old, who accompany the women while they wait for care); transit accommodation; transport hub; promotion of economic autonomy, through financial education, professional qualification and insertion into the job market.

Currently, there are ten Brazilian Women’s houses in operation: Campo Grande; Strength; Ceilândia, in the Federal District; Curitiba; São Luís; Boa Vista; São Paulo; Savior; Teresina and Ananindeua, in Pará.

Seventeen 17 units are under construction, of which ten are reference and service centers for women and another seven are Brazilian Women’s houses. The houses are located in Manaus; Aracaju; Palms; Vila Velha, in Espírito Santo; Goiânia; Macapá and Belo Horizonte.

The federal government’s goal is to have, in total, 40 Brazilian Women’s houses in operation, by 2026, in all units of the federation.
