The president of the Permanent Assembly of Human Rights (Apdhb), Amparo Carvajal, went to the Tariquía reserve (Tarija) on Monday to address a complaint of alleged human rights violations. In the place, the activist herself denounced having been “kidnapped” by alleged intercultural community members.
“At 6:00 we went out with the president (of the association) in Tarija, with a team, and they kidnapped me once again,” said Carvajal in contact with Fides Tarija.
“They have me without letting me pass. I talk to these gentlemen, who do not know them well, they are intercultural and they tell me that I do not pass,” he added.

The activist maintained that the leaders of the area tried to transfer her in a vehicle, but that she refused. She said she felt “astonished” by the situation.
“I’ve called the prosecutor and the police. I’m going to see if they come to rescue me,” he said.
According to information from El País, the blockade point is installed at the entrance to the Tariquía reserve by community members from adjoining areas of Bermejo, San Ramón, and El Cajón, who request the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons in Shipyards.
The complaint for alleged violation of human rights was made by community members of the Tariquía Flora and Fauna Reserve.
