Carolina Cosse, Mayor of Montevideopresented the detail of the works that will be in the Summer Theater, which will begin in May and they aim to the Parque Rodó stage will look completely renovated when it turns 80 in January 2024.
Cosse made the announcement from the Ramón Collazo stage on the night of this Tuesday, minutes before the performance of the murga Los Diablos Verdes, in the last stage of the second round of the Official Carnival Contest, accompanied by María Inés Obaldía, director of Culture of the administration

The theater will improve in capacity, comfort and accessibility, quadrupling the accessible space currently available. The work is part of the Montevideo se Adelanta plan.
The project integrates several reforms: demolition of concrete benches, retaining walls and stairs for the construction of new stands, stairs and corridors.
The first stage of works, from May, includes the remodeling of the lower stalls, the technical areas and the accessible seats.
The lower stalls will be raised, new walls and circulation corridors will be created, improvements will be made in all technical areas, and an accessible area will be created for 10 locations, which will increase to more than double the existing ones, which will also incorporate a ramp for your access.
Comfort will be improved, since the entire lower stalls will have high-backed seats.

The location of the technical mangruyo will be changed and special locations will be generated for the location of the jury of the carnival contest.
Also a new rain channeling will be made between the stalls and all the technical pipes for audio, video, followers, etc., in addition to the installation of audio infrastructure in the upper stalls.
The work includes improvements to the entire walkway of the theater (public entrance, artist area, gastronomic area and vendor area), thus completing the renovation of its entire environment.
As Cosse made each work announcement, he was receiving applause from the upper and lower audiences, which looked packed on another day of the contest with sold-out tickets.
