The mayor of the Libertador municipality of Caracas, A/J Carmen Meléndez, assured this Monday, October 17, that, after the entry into force of the new garbage collection plan in the jurisdiction she presides over, the capital of Venezuela already offers a “remarkable change » because there is a joint effort to keep the city clean between the municipal government and the citizens.

In an interview given to VTVMeléndez stressed that they are in a third phase for the recovery of Caracas and that all sectors must be involved in the preservation of the metropolis, reiterating that the “Caracas, the new face of conscience” plan was launched months before of the arrival of December because they estimate a 30% increase in the production of solid waste.

He recognized that even the municipal companies for urban cleaning are not powerful enough to cover the entire area of ​​the capital, so they have the collaboration of private companies to carry out the work of garbage collection. The ultimate goal pursued by the mayor of Caracas is to be able to activate tourism and a cultural agenda in the city, which would boost the city’s economy.

He emphasized that they are establishing schedules in which the trucks come to collect the garbage and that people must be aware to take it out when the urban cleaning service passes, as well as asking the establishments not to leave it on the street but in the designated room. to do so until they pick it up.

Along with this, he stressed that they work in an articulated manner with state offices such as Corpoelec and Hidrocapital to attend to public services and improve the quality of citizen life. Similarly, he stated that once the rainy season is over, they will activate the “hunting holes” plan to fix the asphalt on the road.

He affirmed that they are working on the cleaning and packing of streams such as in the Caraballo area, where there have been damages due to the rains. In that sense, he said that they will have a final project once the rains stop. Regarding Catuche, Carmen Meléndez stated that they will carry out maintenance in the area and attend above all to the houses that live at the level of the ravine to seek that these families leave and locate themselves in better places to live.

On Thursday, October 13, Carmen Meléndez announced a new plan to carry out the cleaning and collection of solid waste, which was baptized as “Caracas, the new face of conscience”, where in a first stage 400 street sweepers were activated. Supra Caracas in 27 main avenues.

Some of the roads that will benefit are Avenida Páez, Cota 905, Avenida Guzmán Blanco, Avenida Andrés Bello, La Salle, North-South Highways and Gran Cacique Guaicaipuro, the historic center, Plaza Bolívar, Avenida Presidente Medina, among others.

In Caracas, we must attend to the risk areas

For his part, the leader of Primero Justicia in Caracas, Roberto Patiño, warned in an interview given to Venevision this Monday, October 17, that the municipal authorities must attend to the complaints that the communities of El Limón, in Catia, and other areas of the city have made due to the risk that the rains represent for them in the areas where they live.

Patiño expressed the need to attend to landslides in those affected and vulnerable areas, as well as calling for maintenance to be carried out on drains, pipes, sewage, streams and others; as quickly as possible to minimize risk.

He welcomed the work that various organizations and companies have carried out to help the victims of Las Tejerías and expressed that currently the objective is to collaborate with those most in need, beyond politics.

He insisted that Venezuelans are the only ones who can find the solution to the problems that afflict him.
