On the night of this Wednesday, December 22, 2021, the former minister in Correísmo, Carlos Pareja Yannuzzelli arrived at Prison 4, in the north of Quito. He is serving five sentences for corruption cases.
The former official remained in the Ambato jail. His lawyer Sebastián Espinosa indicated the change was achieved “for reasons of health and family closeness.” He explained that the former minister has hypertension, diabetes, disorders anxiety and depression and needs specialized treatment.
