Carlos Neuhaus on legacy: "The goal was to keep it decontaminated from IPD problems"

The former president of the Organizing Committee of the 2019 Lima Pan American Games, Carlos Neuhausrejected the decision to eliminate the special legacy project, recently informed by the head of Defense, Walter Astudillo, during the press conference of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM).

“It is not surprised. What surprises me is the tremendous ignorance by saying that legacy was created in 2015. What was created in 2015 was the special project for the organization of the Pan American Games and Parapan Americans Lima 2019,” he said in Reference to what Minister Astudillo.

Neuhaus revealed that the Legacy project began to have problems with the Government of Pedro Castillo, who replaced the executive director of the Legado project, Alberto Valenzuela.

“From Castillo, when they replaced Alberto Valenzuela by the person who now directs the IPD, the issue of legacy began to have problems because some hiring were made a bit suspicious … the goal was to keep him decontaminated from the problems of the IPD” , he added.

As is known, the Dina Boluarte government announced the extinction of the special legacy project, a program that was responsible for managing the sports scenarios that were built for the 2019 Lima Pan American Games, which had been administered impeccably and that was considered an example of job.

The Minister of Education, Morgan Quero, informed that the six headquarters that legacy were in charge will now be under the responsibility of the IPD. This transfer of responsibilities will be given within a period not exceeding 30 calendar days.
