In statements made after a meeting in the Legislative Palace with representatives of the sector, such as former vice presidential candidate Valeria Ripoll, Olivera emphasized the sensitivity and distinctive approach of D-Centro. “We are a sector that has a different sensitivity, perhaps to the rest of our colleagues. Olivera confirmed that he will seek re-election as mayor of Paysandú, while his seat in the Senate will be occupied by the current mayor of Colonia, Carlos Moreira. Regarding the future of the National Party, he indicated that key aspects still remain to be defined, such as the election of the board of directors and the next presidency of the group.
The Sanducero leader also announced that this Saturday a national year-end activity will be held for D-Centro, where the former nationalist candidate, Álvaro Delgado, will publicly present himself, his first public appearance after being defeated in the runoff by the Frente Amplista Yamandú Orsi .
Olivera highlighted this event as a significant signal for voters of the coalition and the National Party, particularly for those who trusted D-Centro as a space with “representativeness and different sensitivity.”
