The legislators and leaders of the Citizen Community They denounced a sudden attack on the head of that force, Carlos Mesa, at the Tarija airport. The events occurred when the former president was about to leave the city where he arrived to hold meetings with his militancy.
“The more than 20 assailants, identified with the Movement Toward SocialismThey knew exactly the time of the ex-president’s travel and organized to carry out their cowardly aggression in full view and with the patience of members of the Bolivian Police who did not intervene to prevent it and protect the integrity of the President of the alliance,” said a statement published by this political force.
It was the first known political activity of Carlos Mesa outside the seat of Government, and within a pre-electoral activity that is already breathed in the country. Mesa had published his activity an hour before leaving the capital of Tarija.
“We held several meetings for political reflection and organization with young people, social leaders, parliamentarians and CC militants in Tarija. A lot of enthusiasm, unity and determination to reverse the economic crisis and change the current model riddled with authoritarianism and corruption”, said the published message.
The people who arrived at the Oriel Lea Plaza airport to rebuke Mesa carried posters with the legend “Senkata and Sacaba are not forgotten”. According to the statement, these same people attacked the delegation that traveled with the former president.
CC believes that Bolivia is going through a situation of authoritarianism and persecution against opponents. It also points out that the Government is demonstrating that attacking organizations is the only way they know.
In all the concentrations organized by the opponents of the current Government there is always a shock group called “autoconvocados” and they proceed to the aggression, that happened in the cities of the axis on several occasions.
Luciana Campero, CC assembly member, spoke through a video recorded at the same airport. She denounced the aggression with “stones, eggs and firecrackers” by the self-summoned. In addition, she questioned the permissiveness of the police officers who allowed the attacks, even within the airport itself.
