Carlos Eduardo Mora, alias El Veneco, became the second person convicted of the assassination of Miguel Uribe Turbay, which occurred in El Golfito Park in the Modelia neighborhood of Bogotá.
The defendant accepted a preliminary agreement with the Attorney General’s Office in which he will agree to be a witness against other people. This benefit was endorsed by a criminal judge and therefore becomes the second conviction in this case, after a judge specialized in minors sentenced the young man who shot the candidate to seven years.

Carlos Eduardo Mora drove the Chevrolet Spark in which other of those captured for this crime traveled to reach the Modelia neighborhood on June 7when around 5 in the afternoon the victim was shot.
“He is credited with having driven and made available a vehicle previously used to recognize the place where the crime was perpetrated, transport others involved in the attack and hand over the firearm to the teenager who shot the victim. The crimes that he accepted through a pre-agreement are aggravated homicide, illegal possession of firearms and use of minors in the commission of crimes. The reading of his sentence was scheduled for March 2026.
There are seven people on trial for the assassination. The young hitman, Carlos Eduardo Mora, Elder José Arteaga (alleged coordinator), William Fernando González, Cristian Camilo González and Harold Barragán.
