Carlos Adrian Correa Florez took office, this Monday, December 19, as the new General Director of the Mining-Energy Planning Unit (Upme).

Correa Flórez, who is an electrical engineer by profession, took the oath of his new position before the Minister of Mines and Energy, Irene Vélez.
The new director of Upme also has a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering in the area of Electrical Systems Planning from the Technological University of Pereira and is PhD in Energy and Processes from the University of Paris Sciences et Lettres.

He has 17 years of experience in the electrical energy sector and has worked as a research professor at the University of La Salle. He was also in the technical direction of energy management of the Superintendency of Residential Public Services and worked for companies and entities such as 3M, HJ Family of Companies, among others.
Currently, he was the director of the master’s degree in Energy and Sustainability at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and as an energy policy advisor for the Sustainable Rural Energization Plan of Cauca. In 2020, in addition, was the winner of the Think Smartgrids1 award (France) for their contributions to sustainability and renewable energy.

His main challenge at Upme will be “Lead this entity, attached to the Ministry of Mines and Energy, to renew itself and be a protagonist in the Government’s plans for the Energy Transition“, they reported.
