The mayor of Surco, Carlos Bruceannounced that he is evaluating being a candidate for the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima in the next municipal elections in 2026.
The southern mayor assured that he will be a candidate, but said that he still does not know for which district.
“Yeah [voy a postular]but I don’t know yet which district, but I will be a candidate. There is a possibility of re-election, that could make me stay in Surco, or there is the possibility of going to the mayor of Lima,” he said in Exitosa.
When asked if he would run for the Presidency of the Republic, ‘Techito’ assured that he prefers to stay at the municipal level: “I have discovered municipal work and I am very happy doing it.”
Bruce referred to the mayor of Lima, Rafael Lopez Aliagaand said he was “surprised” with the speed with which the area where the southern Expressway will be built has been freed.
“I have been surprised by how quickly the Expressway has been freed. It needs a couple of deposits and to break the terrestrial terminal. In Surco, it is already freed (…) Let’s see now how it goes the work, I hope it has enough bypasses so that the flow of cars does not stop at the first traffic light,” he considered.
“Boluarte is an accident”
The mayor of Surco maintained that the president Dina Boluarte “It is an accident” because she had not planned to assume the Presidency of the Republic: “I no longer even dedicate myself to analyzing the problem of Mrs. Boluarte. Mrs. Boluarte is an accident. She had to take office without her having planned it, or I don’t know if I had planned it.”
In that sense, he considered that the Executive has little capacity for action and even hinted that the president’s permanence would not be assured starting in April: “What more are you going to ask of this government? They don’t have, they don’t have a presence in Congress. and God knows if in April, when they call elections, they will continue to support it or let it fall.”
