CARACAS, VENEZUELA (CBPC Press Office).- The combined Federales de Chiriquí, from Panama, achieved an important victory this Sunday by narrowly defeating the Indios de Mayaguez, from Puerto Rico, three rounds by two, in the third game this Sunday of the fourth day of the “65 of the Simple TV Caribbean Series Gran Caracas 2023”, which took place at the Fórum de la Guaria stadium.
With the game tied at two, Aaron Herrera hit a single through second base with teammates in scoring position to break the tie and give the Panamanians a 3-2 lead.
With that victory for Panama, he managed to put his mark on two wins and two losses. At the moment, he is equal to Curaçao and Colombia with the same record, waiting for other results.
The winning pitcher was David D. Richardson, in a relief role, and Carlos Francisco took the loss. The starting pitching of both teams did a wonderful job until they reached the field of fire extinguishers.
Panama dispatched nine hits in the game, with three errors in the field and the Indians only had five hits.
The Indians excelled at bat, Enmanuel Rivera who went 2-for-4 with an RBI, Brayan Torres left with a hit and an RBI.
For the Panama Federales, Aaron Herrera went 3-3 with two RBIs, Santamaría and Castillo had a hit with one produced each.
The Indians were the first to score when in the third inning, Jesmuel Valentín reached second on the second baseman’s error, then reached third on the pitcher’s deflected pitch, Brayan Torres tripled through right field, scoring Valentín. Emmanuel Rivera doubled to left field pushing Torres.
Ronnie Williams started for the Indios de Mayaguez, which represents Puerto Rico, while Steven Oneil Fuentes started for the Panamanian team.
Williams worked 4.1 innings, allowed four hits, two runs, walked five and struck out five. He gave way to Ricardo Velez.
Fuentes did an excellent job throwing 6.0 innings, allowing two runs, four hits, three free walks and three strikeouts. He went without a decision as did his rival, Ronnie Williams.
Wilfredo Alexis Pereira replaced Panama starter Stevel Oneil Fuentes. Carlos Francisco came to work in the eighth act for the Federals, as did David Richardson
The Indios de Mayaguez troupe was the first to score in the third inning with the following movement: Joshwan Wright was balled, Rodrigo Orozco hit a double through the right field to boost the first round of the Panamanians.
Jadhiel Santamaría, of the Federales, hit a superb home run through the center field to even the action at two runs apiece.
In the eighth against the shipments of Carlos Francisco, the Federales broke the tie with a single by Aaron Herrera with runners in scoring position that made the game 3-2.
