Cargo truck hits house in Santiago de Cuba

Accidente, Cuba

MADRID, Spain.- This Monday the front loader of a harrow detached and hit a house on the ascent of Seville, Baconao highway in the Santiago de Cuba province. Although no human damage was reported, the incident caused damage to the house.

In images shared by users of the group of Facebook “BUSES & TRUCKS ACCIDENTS for more experience and fewer victims!” You can see the dreadlocks entered in the portal of the house.

In comments to the Cuban publication, they point out that accidents like these occur “because the equipment is not tied down as it should be,” nor does it have “official custody” for this type of transfer.

Leonardo Brasa Garlobo indicated that this is the third time that an incident like this has occurred in that area.

“How long the recklessness? If there had been a child playing in that garden, who would pay for it? Because the material is recovered, but life is not,” said Asbel Hermández Naranjo.

Traffic accidents in Cuba have normalized, including massive ones, which usually involve several people and even more than one vehicle. Not even the most modern buses that circulate in Cuba offer security to the island’s inhabitants, as has been demonstrated on more than one occasion. This same week a car overturned at kilometer 217 of the National Highway.

According to data from the National Revolutionary Police (PNR), during 2022 they occurred in Cuba 9,848 traffic accidents —at a rate of 27 per day— that cost the lives of 700 people and left 7,547 injured.

Most of the accidents registered in the country occurred during the day in urban areas and residential sectors, from nine in the morning to twelve at noon and from three to six in the afternoon, with Havana, Artemisa, Ciego de Ávila and Guantanamo as the provinces with the highest number of accidents.
