Cargo handling at the Port of Santos grew 2.3% in the second quarter of this year, reaching 42 million tons, informed the Santos Port Authority (SPA), the state-owned company that manages the country’s largest port. The comparison is with the same period last year.
According to the state-owned company, all financial indicators of productivity advanced in the second half of the year and are, according to her, “the result of the review and modernization of processes and the culture of efficiency and austerity implemented in the company”.
Regarding containers, where higher value-added cargo is transported, the increase in handling was 3.3%, totaling 1.2 million TEU (standard unit of a 20-foot container).
The quarterly net income was a record, totaling R$ 144.8 million, the value represented an increase of 46.4% over the second quarter of 2021.
