“In many actions that we have to carry out, we feel that fear – and doubt – that we will succeed and continue to the end, but the Lord invites us not to be afraid,” said the prelate from the Metropolitan Cathedral.

Despite the accusations made to religious leaders for their silence in the face of the onslaught of the Daniel Ortega regime against the Church of Nicaragua, the prelate pointed out that one must trust “fully in the Lord, because he is with us ».
“Although there is always doubt and fear, how beautiful it is to be able to hear from the Lord who tells us: do not be afraid,” stressed the highest representative of the Catholic Church of Nicaragua.
Referring to the priests who perform different tasks, the hierarch advised that any feeling of fear that may exist, “we must know that we have the closeness and strength of God.”

Without explicitly mentioning the fear that exists in many religious because of the religious persecution that the country is experiencing, Brenes said that “all of us can be humanly afraid of evangelization and go to announce the person of Jesus.”
“The fear is that we will be rejected but the one who is rejected many times is the Lord, because the word that we are going to preach is not our word, but God’s,” he said.
The cardinal concluded by assuring that “humanly we could ask ourselves, what is the fear we have at this moment? But the Lord tells us to move on because he will continue with his Church until the end of the world.”
The exhortation of the religious leader is made at a time when the Catholic Church in Nicaragua is the object of a wave of repression by the regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, which recently accused the different Dioceses of the country of the alleged crime of money laundering, It also keeps at least four priests behind bars, including Monsignor Rolando Alvarez, Bishop of Matagalpa.
