The Cardinal and Archbishop of Huancayo, Pedro Barreto, pointed out that there are signs of corruption around the so there is a sector of the population that feels “defrauded”.

Speaking to the press, prior to the traditional mass for Palm Sunday, he asserted that politics should be the use of power for the benefit of society, especially those who are poorer.

Along these lines, he asked civil society to unite to reject violence and to bet on a renewal in politics, in which people who have questions do not have a place.

Pope sends message to Peru

Barreto’s statements are given on the same date that Pope Francis sent a message to Peru, in relation to the protests and demonstrations that have occurred in recent days in different cities.
