Cardinal Baltazar Porras was stripped of liturgical vestments and seals of the Archdiocese of Caracas, when he was going to the San Francisco de Asís parish of the Capital District
The Archdiocese of Caracas reported that Cardinal Baltazar Porras and his work team were robbed in the Kennedy neighborhood, located in the Macarao parish of the Capital District. All are in good condition after the event.
“We know that these events are not the path to happiness,” the cardinal commented in a video through the Twitter account of the Archdiocese of Caracas.
The cardinal was going to the San Francisco de Asís Parish when he was intercepted by two unidentified individuals who boarded the vehicle to steal his belongings, including the seals of the Archdiocese of Caracas.
Among the belongings that were stolen were the liturgical vestments of the cardinal and the parish priest of the area, Miguel Ángel Morales.
Porras specified that the fact demonstrates the growing insecurity in the country. He alerted the community about any document of dubious origin due to the theft of the stamps.
Officials from the National Guard and the Bolivarian National Police appeared at the scene.
