debit
Debit cards were responsible for BRL 488 billion in payments, an increase of 16.6% compared to the first six months of 2021. While prepaid cards had BRL 99.4 billion in transactions.
Remote purchases also grew in the first half, which, with a rise of 32.7%, totaled R$ 338.5 billion in the period.
Approximate payments with credit and debit cards increased by 344.5%, totaling R$235.5 billion in the first six months of the year.
Pandemic
According to the association, the high growth is related to the poor comparison base of last year, a critical moment of the covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, the expansion also reflects the end of restrictions on movement and economic activities this year.
