Caracas Lottery launches new game with $100,000 prize promoted by the Government

The Caracas Lottery, being a government entity, is headed by the ruling party and its president is the former constituent and current deputy of the National Assembly administered by Chavismo, Franklin Rondón

Legal games of chance are progressively returning to the daily life of Venezuelans, after years of contempt, criticism and regulations by the Chavista government.

The large lottery companies in the country, with decades of tradition, have been forced to suspend their operations in recent years. The economic crisis, hyperinflation and exchange control became an obstacle that they could not overcome without suffering losses.

However, the transformation of the economy that Venezuela began to suffer since 2019 opens the doors again to recreational activity and lottery companies did not miss this opportunity to resume their businesses and capture the money that circulates in the streets. Of course, with the particularity that on this occasion they are governed by greenbacks.

After the return of El Triple Gordo announced last November 2021, now another heavyweight in the sector returns to the market, as the Caracas Lottery announced the launch of Lotus Pegamaxa new game that aims to revive the lottery culture of yesteryear.

The Pegamax Lotto promises a prize for every 10 tickets sold, which will also be traded for the modest price of $1, which is due to a market strategy that seeks to reach all social strata in the country and reach a youth detached from these practices.

“When we see other tickets that cost $5, you find people who say that with that they buy 1kg of cheese for their families. That is why we did a market study and created a ticket that is accessible enough so that all Venezuelans can acquire it, that speaks to all strata and levels,” explained the company’s marketing director, Isa Bermúdez.

The inexpensive ticket highlights in large print that for just $1 a player can win up to $100,000, the highest prize offered in the game. The paper also details the various prizes, as well as the date and time of the draw.

There are eight possible combinations to win prizes ranging from ticket replacement to $100,000, as detailed below:

  • $100,000 jackpot: Match the six exact numbers of the serial.
  • $20,000 prize: Hit the serial with two approximation digits (numbers before or after the winner).
  • $5,000 Prize: Hit the last five exact numbers of the serial.
  • $500 Prize: Hit the last four exact numbers of the serial.
  • $50 Prize: Hit the permutation of the six digits (the same numbers, but in another order).
  • $5 Prize: Match the last three exact numbers of the serial.
  • $2 Prize: Match the last two exact digits of the serial.
  • Ticket refund prize: Hit the last exact number of the serial.

change of speech

The Pegamax Lottery comes directly from the Caracas Lottery, an entity attached to the Government of the Capital District, the government agency directly controlled by the Executive and currently headed by Nahum Fernández, leader of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV).

In this sense, the Caracas Lottery, being a government entity, is headed by the ruling party. Its president is the former constituent and current deputy of the National Assembly administered by Chavismo, Franklin Rondón.

In Rondón’s spokesperson, a discursive change is evident around stake and chance games, since the deputy affirms that the lottery can help boost the economy with the 10,000 direct jobs that the Caracas Lottery has already created in this reactivation and the 100,000 indirect jobs it intends to create within six months.

«We aspire in the next six months to create 100,000 indirect jobs. Not only will it be in the street, agencies, still life, supermarket, shops; anywhere you will have the opportunity to have access to the Pegamax ticket and that translates into movement of money, generation of wealth in favor of Venezuelan society and the National and Caracas Governments », he declared at a press conference.

Similarly, the spokesperson focuses the speech around this new business from the social point of view, by promoting the work of the Caracas Lottery Public Welfare Institute, which will support social projects and donations. Rondón announced that the first social action of the institute has already been completed, by remodeling a school in Propatria.

It is through this approach that the Lottery of Caracas tries to promote its reactivation, even leaving open the possibility of proposing to the authorities a relaxation in the existing rules to promote these activities, since the current laws do not allow diffusion in the media until 10 :00 p.m.

«The sector is being reactivated and as it grows, we will surely be able to propose to the authorities the possibility of revising these regulations. That will have its moment. I think they should review it, as well as the approach. Not only highlight the game, but promote an institution that can raise resources to help our communities, our people, “he reflected.

Debut of the new lottery

The first draw will be held live next Tuesday, June 5, and will be broadcast through the Venevisión signal, which from now on will broadcast draws on Tuesdays every two weeks at 10:00 pm.

The television block will be hosted by a team of animators made up of Viviana Gibelli, Leo Aldana, Pierina Rojas and Juan Pablo Dos Santos.
