The Caracas fire department managed to put out a fire in the Mercado de los Corotos in Quinta Crespo located at the end of Baralt Avenue in downtown Caracas.
“Firefighters put out the flames of the fire that was generated in the Los Corotos Market, they are still removing debris and cooling the place,” the Caracas Fire Department published this Sunday on its Twitter social network account @bomberos_dc.
The incident occurred around 12:40 a.m. this Sunday, in the building known as Mercado de los Corotos in Quinta Crespo and lasted about six hours, the AVN portal reports.
The Vice Minister for Risk Management and Civil Protection, Carlos Pérez Ampueda, and the second commander of the Caracas Fire Department, Colonel José Ángel Montes, attended the scene.
So far, there have been no reports of deaths or injuries, although there have been significant material damages.
Members of the Caracas Fire Department are waiting for the temperature to drop in the affected infrastructure to enter and assess the damage caused by the fire.
