Thousands of parishioners left Plaza La Pastora to procession through the streets of Caracas, in honor of the new saints of Venezuela, Dr. José Gregorio Hernández and Mother Carmen Rendiles, canonized a few hours ago in Vatican City, Rome.
The procession has become a massive demonstration of faith and love for the new Venezuelan saints, which advances with great fervor and has as its final destination the emblematic Sanctuary of Candelaria.
The citizens present on the tour have expressed their deep joy at this ecclesiastical recognition. A visibly moved parishioner shared his impression of the magnitude of the event.
”It is a religious holiday for all of Venezuela and the world, to make them realize that Venezuela is a country of peace, tranquility and harmony, full of faith, with our saints. They have always been saints, but now for the world they are saints too,” declared the devotee.
The Venezuelan emphasized that the celebration is an opportunity to project the national faith, “we are going to share our faith with the whole world, that we are free Venezuela, Venezuelans of love and faith.”
The mobilization of thousands of people in the streets of the capital underlines the profound spiritual and cultural impact of the canonization of the “Doctor of the Poor” and the founder of the Congregation of the Servants of Jesus.
