Caracas authorities praise Eliézer Otaiza's "courage"

Caracas authorities rendered a heartfelt tribute the revolutionary leader Eliézer Otaiza, in an act held in the Patio de los Leones of the Municipal Council, to commemorate nine years of his heinous murder.

In the acts to honor his memory, the head of the Government of Caracas, Nahúm Fernández, praised the qualities of Commander Otaiza, whom he considered a “very concerned” man who “the right was afraid of.”

Fernández recounted the political environment in the country, close to the date of the assassination of the Bolivarian leader, and recalled that “‘La Salida’ was coming, there was, without a doubt, a scheme set up to guarantee the coup d’état that they were instrumentalizing our president Nicolás Maduro”.

After learning about the attack, “the right wing attempted moral assassination, but the people did not allow it. Today we have decided to go out to talk about the actions that occurred. We are happy for the demonstrations of the social movements, honor and glory to Otaiza”, said the head of government.

For her part, the mayoress of the city, Carmen Meléndez, stressed that Otaiza was a “courageous, disciplined, military man, he was well known as a cadet. Otaiza was known since he was a cadet for his sports discipline, swimming. Eliézer from the Academy was famous”.

Meléndez mentioned that Eliézer accompanied the late President Hugo Chávez and he sowed “the protection of the people.” “Otaiza always listened to Commander Chávez. He was brave and a warrior, ”he stressed.

Nine years of the murder

On April 26, 2014, the lifeless body of the then president of the Municipal Council of Caracas was found in a wooded area of ​​the El Hatillo municipality of Miranda state.

One more year after the tragic episode, President Nicolás Maduro honored the revolutionary leader through his Twitter account, emphasizing that he was “a passionate man, a patriotic soldier and an authentic Bolivarian.”
