Carabobo and Miranda led covid-19 infections on Friday #Dec 16

There are currently 917 asymptomatic patients, 258 with mild acute respiratory failure, 108 with moderate acute respiratory failure and 69 in the intensive care unit.


The Minister of Communication and Information Freddy Ñáñez reported that on Friday, December 16, 165 cases of covid-19 were recorded in Venezuela: 105 due to community transmission and 60 imported.

According to the balance presented by Ñáñez through his Twitter account, the new cases were detected in Carabobo 35, Miranda 17, Zulia 16, Capital District 15, Sucre 11, Bolívar 5 and Yaracuy 3. While Apure, Aragua and Vargas presented one contagion each, respectively.

He explained that the 60 imported cases come from Panama 24, Spain 7, Dominican Republic 17, Portugal 7, Turkey 3, Mexico 6, Cuba 3, all entering through the Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía.

The published official report shows that 1,006 days after the detection of the first infections on March 13, 2020, the country reaches a total of 548,965 confirmed cases, 1,352 active cases and 541,783 people recovered, which represents, according to official data, a 99% overcoming the disease.

He also stressed that there were no deaths from the disease, which is why the figure of 5,830 deaths remains throughout the national territory.
