After the complaint by the company Focus -operator of the American brand Under Armor- against La Polar for the counterfeiting of its clothes in stores, the Prosecutor’s Office pointed out that it is possible that the same event is occurring “in different regions” of the country.
The incident caused Carabineros personnel to raid eight store warehouses, managing to seize a total of 680 garments valued at $18 million. After the judicial action, the Public Ministry is investigating a possible infringement of the Intellectual Property Law.
According to the signature of the Under Armor representative, they have never delivered merchandise to the multi-store, so the judge of the 1st Guarantee Court of Santiago, Fernando Guzmán, authorized the entry, search and subsequent seizure of counterfeit products. In addition, it is not ruled out that the situation is repeated in other regions of the country.
This was stated by the deputy prosecutor of Pudahuel, Pablo Alonso, who reported that “by virtue of this operation, a series of garments of this brand were seized, which will be sent to Labocar for rigorous analysis. This is , verify if they are indeed false”.
“In addition, we are also going to continue to carry out procedures since we have information and news that in different regions of the country they could be practicing marketing on similar terms in different regions of the country,” Alonso stated.
