Carabineros find weapons of war, drugs and ammunition in the warehouse of the Central Station building

Carabineros personnel found various weapons and large caliber war ammunition in a warehouse of a building in the Estación Central district. This, as a result of a review originated after the arrest of an inhabitant of Venezuelan nationality in the place for drug possession.

Given this, the prosecutor of the North Central Prosecutor’s Office, Felipe Olivari, decided to open an investigation to clarify the facts.

“It is because of the smell of cannabis sativa that the presence of Police is required in this place. The smell was quite striking and pointed directly to that warehouse. It was possible to locate the department to which it corresponded, that person was found with bags of marijuana, individually he had them in his possession in an identity control that is carried out, he is arrested; finally, he authorizes entry to the warehouse and all the species that we are reporting are found,” he said.

“We are talking about weapons of war: two war rifles that, without prejudice to the fact that expert reports have not been carried out on them, apparently, preliminarily, they would be suitable for firing. Also four grenades for military use,” added the prosecutor.

Likewise, the ammunition of the rifles, a pistol, five liters of muriatic acid and a “large amount” of marijuana were seized.

“We have several sacks and, without prejudice to the fact that the expert opinion has not been carried out by OS-7, we would be talking about several kilos,” informed the persecutor. Initially, the subject was arrested for the crimes of drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons.

Carabineros Lieutenant Colonel Leonardo Alache declared that the arrested person “lived in the building and would be linked to a drug deposit that was in the basement.” Regarding his identity, he pointed out that “apparently he has no record in our country, without prejudice to which there is obviously an investigation.”

“We are going to try to determine if he is the person who was occupying that warehouse or if they are other individuals who kept these things stored there, in order to determine if we are in the presence of some type of organization,” he concluded.
