Santiváñez.

He will answer why he has not been captured after almost a year of his escape. Burgos said that the Interior Minister’s office confirmed his attendance for this Friday.

Captain Junior Izquierdo Yarlequé, known as ‘Culebra’, will be the first to answer everything he knows about the leak. He has been summoned an hour earlier, at 10:00 am.

‘Culebra’ will respond to the alleged use of the presidential vehicle in Cerrón’s escape.

The head of the Oversight Department said that the hypothesis that his working group is starting with is that Cerrón, who has been a fugitive from justice for 335 days in the Wanka Aerodrome case, would receive protection from high-ranking officials in the Executive Branch.

After pointing out that the work period will be 120 days, he did not rule out that if evidence is found, the investigation could serve to prepare a motion for presidential vacancy.

Burgos, on the other hand, said that the request for powers of an investigative commission will be voted on in the Plenary Session on Thursday 12th.

Request for investigative powers approved

This Wednesday, it is recalled, the Oversight Committee approved, with 11 votes in favor, the request to the Plenary for special powers to investigate the case of the escape and the protection of the fugitive leader of Peru Libre, Vladimir Cerrón.

This, to determine whether he would have used the vehicle assigned to President Dina Boluarte (called “cofre”, according to the audio broadcast on the Sunday show Cuarto Poder) in his escape.

The aforementioned commission also gave the green light for the Minister of the Interior, Juan José Santiváñez, and Captain Junior Izquierdo Yarlequé, alias ‘Culebra’, to attend the aforementioned working group this Friday. Both, according to ‘Culebra’s’ lawyer, were the protagonists of the audio released last Sunday.

The motion —according to Burgos— is not only to investigate Cerrón’s escape, but will also investigate whether he has protection from the Government Palace and the Police, as well as the participation of congressmen from Peru Libre, who would know his whereabouts after connecting with him on Zoom.

Regarding the same case, the Attorney General’s Office requested information from the Government Palace regarding its fleet of vehicles.
