Capriles described Álvarez’s detention as unjust and advocated for the freedom of all people deprived of liberty for political reasons in Venezuela
Former governor Henrique Capriles Radonski asked this Tuesday, November 18, to release all political prisoners and end persecution in the country.
“In Venezuela we cannot talk about PEACE as long as there are citizens imprisoned for demanding their rights, for defending democracy and for having thoughts contrary to those in power,” he wrote in his account on X regarding the release of the former president of Fedecámaras Noel Álvarez.
The leader of the Unión y Cambio party welcomed the release of the businessman, “a Venezuelan friend whose arrest should never have occurred.”
He described Álvarez’s detention as unjust and advocated for the freedom of all people deprived of liberty for political reasons in Venezuela.

“Today, we reiterate that there must be the release of all political prisoners, justice for each case and the definitive cessation of persecution, that is the true path to the peace that the country needs.”
He asked for respect for the dignity, human rights and freedom of Venezuelans.
According to the balance of the NGO Foro Penal, in the country there were 882 people detained for political reasons until November 10 and 59 of them are in a condition of forced disappearance.
