Capasu demands transparency from the IPS, out of respect for the contributors

The Paraguayan Chamber of Supermarkets, as one of the major contributors to the pension, requires that the IPS deliver to the Comptroller the documents referring to debts, credits and the financial situation of the entity.

After being summoned by a judge for 24 hours, to deliver the required documentation on loans and debts with input suppliers and pharmaceuticals, The IPS sent yesterday to the Comptroller’s Office two trucks full of boxes and boxes of bibliorates.

Howeverchallenged magistrate José Trovatto, considering his behavior “strange”since the requested papers were delivered “for the most part”.

“If the comptroller or a court requires the documentation, it must be deliver in time and form, and with the best predisposition. The insured cannot be held hostage to political struggles or administrative breaches”, indicates the pronouncement of the Capasu.

It adds that the payment commitments to suppliers must be honor immediately so that users do not lack medicines and supplies.

“As major contributors to the IPS, We demand that transparency and service to the insured, are the ordering elements in the Board of Directors”, the statement states.

The Comptroller General of the Republic will begin an audit of the reports sent by the IPS and see if they are finally complete in order to conclude the evaluation.

Through a law sanctioned with intense lobbying by Arnaldo Samaniego and the Colorado government, the IPS is authorized to contract loans to cover a debt of some 260 million dollars with suppliers. The legislation establishes that the payment will be made through the removes up to 5% per year from the Health and Maternity Fund, currently in deficit.

What the Comptroller is requesting is the documentation on the lines of credit obtained so far and on the accumulated debt with the pharmaceutical companies, in addition to what has been paid up to now.
