The Santa Catarina Civil Police closed investigations into the attacks that led to the dog Orelha’s death and requested the hospitalization of one of the four teenagers involved in the crime. To be able to prove the participation of the author — whose name was not revealed because he was a minor —, the authorities had to resort to imported technology and analysis of images from security cameras.
According to information from the police themselves, more than a thousand hours of footage captured by 14 cameras were analyzed. In addition, 24 witnesses were interviewed.
The images analyzed were essential for the authorities, although there are no recordings of the moment of the attack on the animal. It was through them that investigators were able to check the clothes worn by the boy on the day of the crime, in addition to proving that he had left the condominium where he lives in the early hours of the morning.

The police also used French software to check the location of the minor at the time of the assault on Orelha. With the program — which identifies where the cell phone is — and images from the cameras, the investigation was able to prove that the boy left the condominium at 5:25 am, and went to Praia Brava on that January 4th. He returned to the same place at 5:58 am, accompanied by a young woman.
Another software, now Israeli, for recovering deleted cell phone data was also used.
The boy’s testimony, collected last week, was also key to unraveling the crime. The young man contradicted himself, stating that he had not left his house that late in the morning. But the police already had the images proving otherwise. There were videos of the entrance’s access control, images of the sweatshirt and cap he was wearing, in addition to reports from witnesses stating that the young man had left the condominium.

Disney
As reported a few days after the attack on the dog, the teenager traveled to the United States to visit Disney. He returned to the country on January 29th, with the police already waiting for him at the airport.
Upon arrival in Santa Catarina, a relative of the teenager tried to hide the cap and even claimed that the hoodie that was in the luggage had been purchased in the USA. But they were the same ones used on the day of the attack on Orelha, as the authorities already knew.
With all this evidence in hand, the Civil Police decided to request the aggressor’s hospitalization. Three other adults linked to the four teenagers were charged with coercing a witness.
