This Thursday, September 8, the President Gustav Petro in the company of the Minister of Transport, William Reyes, visited and participated in the conversation with the community of Santa Lucía, in the Atlantic, about the dike channel, project that would be awarded on September 12, after the extension promulgated on August 11.
At the meeting, Minister Reyes launched four points of consultation with the community and highlighted the importance of the project, highlighting the investment of $3.2 billion that will bring benefits to the Nation.
In this way he decreed after the meeting that:
1. Those larger properties to a certain number of hectares yet to be determined (on average 50 or 60) they will have to pay an appraisal for the benefits that the mega project will bring.
“Even those owners, holders or holders in the bay of Cartagena and in the entire riverbank where the Magdalena River touches and a benefit is obtained, there will be an appreciation, which they will be able to pay in money or on land and that land will be used for the relocation of those inhabitants who live on the banks of the river that are highly threatened by the risks of the winter wave“, said.
He further added: “The relocation will not be forced, it will be based on dialogue with the communities. One cannot be taken out of their territory and in those cases where the need is determined”.
2. The postponement of decision-making will be extended, by the president of the ANI, until September 27, of the award of the Canal del Dique, “being the deadline and last date in the contractual process to decide whether or not to award”.

3. Dialogues and concertation will continuetions with ethnic and non-ethnic communities that are directly or indirectly impacted by the project.
4. A citizen oversight mechanism will be established in the communities that are impacted by the project, to: monitor the use of resources, the hiring of local personnel and the execution time.
