You may be wondering if it is possible to get both diseases at the same time. Here we tell you.
The first thing we must take into account is that both influenza and Covid-19 are viral diseases; Covid-19 is the disease that derives from SARS-CoV-2 infection, while seasonal influenza is caused by the influenza virus, either type A, B, C or D.
Both diseases are transmitted by the droplets that a sick person expels when coughing, speaking or sneezing, by contact with contaminated surfaces and by touching our eyes, nose and mouth with our hands.
In addition, it must be taken into account that in both diseases, the most vulnerable groups and those at risk of complications are the elderly, pregnant people and those with underlying diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases or cancer.
Another point to note is that there are currently several vaccines and treatments for both diseases, however, because the symptoms are very similar, the diagnosis is not very easy, although in the same way, there are already tests to identify if we are infected by one or the other virus, or both at the same time.
