Can fast charging harm your phone’s battery?

With the upcoming arrival of the HUAWEI nova 10 Pro, the new HUAWEI SuperCharge Turbo fast charging technology will be released, which takes advantage of 100W of power to charge the phone in a matter of minutes. With this, the HUAWEI nova 10 Pro becomes one of the fastest charging phones in the world, and Huawei’s first to support 100W charging.

However, despite the advantages that fast charging technology has on a day-to-day basis, there are still many myths surrounding this technology, so it is common to think that the faster the charge, the more damage is generated. to the device’s battery, although this is not necessarily the case.

It is not a lie that telephone batteries are one of the components that can wear the most with use, this is because over time they lose their charging capacity, which is why autonomy is not the same over time. weather. Likewise, one of the great enemies of battery life is heat, and since a more powerful fast charge generates more heat, it is common to think that the higher the charging power, the more damage is applied to the battery.

It’s not just about packing more power, it’s about doing it safely

The myth that fast charging damages batteries is based on a real scenario, however, since Huawei launched its fast charging technology in 2017 with the HUAWEI P10, the company has also implemented processes that ensure that fast charging offers more benefits to the user experience than damage to the battery that generates short-term problems with the batteries of the equipment.

With the HUAWEI P10 the fast charge was only 22.5W, so compared to the 100W reached by the HUAWEI nova 10 Pro it is an important difference, however, over the last 5 years significant resources have been invested in research and development to improve the heat dissipation naturally generated when the device is charged.

In the particular case of the HUAWEI nova 10 Pro, the device integrates an Ultra Generation VC liquid cooling system capable of improving heat dissipation in the device during charging and use, making it more uniform and faster. It also uses technology driven by AI algorithms (Artificial Intelligence) that allow dynamic detection of the hottest spots in the equipment and thus cool the parts that need it most in real time. In fact, both technologies also come into play when the device is in use, and not just when it is charging with HUAWEI SuperCharge.

In the same way, it is very important that during the charging process you always use the original charger and cable, because for the charging process to be safe, not only are cooling technologies inside the device involved, but also communication between the phone and the charger to regulate the voltage.
