MIAMI, United States. – A Cuban immigrant based in Philadelphia has created her own business of handmade leather accessories, which are selling successfully. Camila Ladicani, who left the Island in 2020, found in the crisis of the pandemic the opportunity to pursue your passions and create your own business.
In interview with Univision networkLadicani explained that she decided to make leather accessories because they represent the color, softness, joy and liveliness that she has always associated with Cuba. Although she had never been an entrepreneur, her craft skills and her love of her art led her to create her own line of products, she explained.
“There were months of having time to think and think about what I could do to work and achieve financial support,” Ladicani said. “I had never had my own business, because in Cuba I was a classical ballet dancer, so it had nothing to do with being an entrepreneur.”
The young woman learned to make her leather pieces through tutorials on YouTube and self-taught. “She would buy one tool, then another,” she explained. Over time, she managed to organize a workshop and now her mother works as her right hand in the production.
“When you go to start a business you should do it with what you have, without fear, but in my case I saved. I had something saved and that allowed me to start my venture. It is something that I recommend: saving”, recommended the young Cuban.
Ladicani’s creations are mainly sold through your instagram account and your website. In addition, Ladicani has participated in various fashion events and plans to expand to boutiques in the United States in the coming months, she said.
The young woman has created unique pieces that combine elegance and style with a touch of joy. “They represent the identity, the passion and the creativity that I carry within me,” she said. “I am so excited to share this with the world and to see where my venture will take me.”
