Catherine Wilson, president of the union, stressed that although the rates for the service provided by Fospuca are considerably high for some businessmen, agreements and discounts were achieved
The Chamber of Commerce and Industries of the Caroní municipality (Camcaroní) assures that it is essential to insist on finding alternatives that make it easier for taxpayers to pay for the garbage collection service and maintenance of the sanitary landfill and, at the same time, declare their municipal taxes .
“What we are trying to achieve is that there is at least some slack in the payment process, so that taxpayers can adapt to this new charging dynamic for urban cleaning services that, definitely, also affects their cost structure,” Catherine stated. Wilson, president of the union, in an interview with Caroní Mail.
Wilson also stressed that the measures to be taken should continue to favor the environmental sanitation of Ciudad Guayana. “We have to continue betting on a better waste collection system that keeps the city clean, so not paying for the service is not an option,” he said.
The union member reported that, although the rates for the service provided by Fospuca are considerably high for some businessmen, especially in the industrial, hotel and clinic sectors, agreements and discounts were achieved.
Regarding this, José Simón Elarba, owner of the company, assured in past interviews with Correo del Caroní that, prior agreement with these sectors, discounts of 50% were applied for clinics, 33% -or less- for hotels and 50% for schools for one year.
Then Fospuca promised to grant a 40% discount on rates to merchants and service providers who must pay $200 or more for the garbage collection service. This discount will be valid for one year, starting with billing in January 2023.
A pending task continues to be that Fospuca Caroní, the service provider, provides access to information that allows determining the monthly operating cost of the garbage collection system, and the maintenance of the sanitary landfill.
In this way, citizens will be able to determine if the service provided justifies the amounts to be paid which, in some cases, is beyond the contribution capacity of commercial users depending on the economic activity they carry out.
