CAMBADU: The final of the South American Cup in Montevideo did not move the needle for trade

Last Saturday, November 20, the final of the South American Cup was played at the Centenario Stadium in Montevideo, between the Brazilian teams of Athletico Paranaense and Red Bull Bragantino.

From different sectors of the commercial activity, an increase in consumption was expected by the Brazilian fans who came to Uruguay, but this was not the case; although expectations are set on the final of the Libertadores that will be played on November 27 between the Brazilians Flamengo and Palmeiras, also in Montevideo.

The former president of CAMBADU and current advisor to the board, Daniel Fernández, expressed in Punto de Encuentro, of Radio Universal, that in the final last Saturday “he did not move the needle”

“It was nobody, there were no people to consume. The buses were near the stadium, they loaded the people and left. Today the syndrome of the Potato Bath is flying ”, he commented.

He remarked that “between four or 20 little balls worked very well, throughout the city of Montevideo and the entire coast.” Anyway, he acknowledged that it was known that for the final of the South American “very few people would come.”

He also referred to prices in Uruguay compared to Brazil: “A can of beer on the Brazilian side is worth three reais, while here it is worth 15 reais.”

Final of the Libertadores

“From information we have from the authorities, in terms of hotel and flight reservations, the strong starts from Wednesday or Thursday,” he said, although he does not believe that these “stark figures they speak of” will arrive.

He clarified that the businesses in Montevideo that will benefit include an area that includes the Sarandí breakwater, Italia Avenue, Propios and the entire side of the Río de la Plata ”.

On Saturday, November 27, the final of the Copa Libertadores will be played between Flamengo and Palmeiras, also at the Centenario Stadium.
