The Director of Pursuit Public Ministry, Wilson Camachowarned early this Thursday that the judicial process for him alleged fraud in the National Health Insurance (Senasa) will continue to develop and could lead to new charges, ensuring that the investigation remains open and progressing. He stated that there will be “more twists” in the case.
Camacho spoke about the issue after the decision of the Second Criminal Chamber of the District Court of Appeal to ratify the preventive detention 18 months versus Santiago Hazimformer director of Senasa, and other defendants, by rejecting the request for a variation of the coercive measure initiated by the defendants who wanted to be released.
“There will be so many twists and turns in the Senasa case as warranted by the investigation. We are moving forward and very soon we will be talking about a version 2.0“said the official, pointing out that the Public Ministry will continue to deepen the investigations.
Early this Thursday, the Second Criminal Chamber of the District Court of Appeal rejected the appeal filed by Hazim and the other six defendants who are serving preventive detention so that their prison sentence could be varied and they could be sent home.
The other defendants are Rafael Luis Martínez Hazim, Speakler Mateo, Gustavo Enrique Messina Cruz, Germán Rafael Robles Quiñones, Francisco Iván Minaya Pérez and Ada Ledesma Ubiera.
- The defendants face charges of coalition of officials and prevarication, association of evildoersfraud against the State, embezzlement, bribery, money laundering, as well as forgery and use of false documents.
The director of Pursuit indicated that the court decision supports the research strength and the severity of the eventswhich—as he explained—affected an institution that provides health coverage to more than seven million Dominicans.

He maintained that the court ruling It is an incentive for the prosecuting body to continue working until all those responsible for the investigated network are brought to justice.
“Once again, a court recognizes the research strength made by him Public Ministry and the severity of the events that surround this process. We have said it from day one,” he said when answering questions from the press.
He added: “The preventive detention for all the defendants who came to this appeal with preventive detention and it seems to us to be an appropriate decision, which is proportional not only to the seriousness of the fact, but also to the damage that must be compensated for the impact that this case produces.
Warns they will fall all involved
“Everyone who has participated in this process will appear before the courts to answer for their actions,” he assured. Camachoby reiterating that there are already other people under investigation who have been subdued or arrested in the context of the case.
The official noted that, although he avoided offering further details so as not to compromise the investigation, the Public Ministry keeps several open lines of inquiry related to the alleged fraud against state insurance, which is estimated at more than 15.9 billion pesos.
