In a thread of three tweets, Governor Luis Fernando Camacho not only encouraged the population to attend Tuesday’s march, called by the Committee for Santa Cruz, but also stated: “Drug trafficking has taken over our country and the Government and its authorities are demonstrating a cdubious behavior resembling cover-up.”

In a following trill, he indicated: “we will march in repudiation of drug trafficking and we will raise our voice against the permissive attitudes of those who protect traffickers and negotiate with them.

The march, which was called by the Civic Committee “in repudiation of drug trafficking and for true justice,” It will depart from the Plaza del Estudiante and will go to the Plaza 24 de Septiembre. The concentration was announced for 17:00; Fernando Larach, vice president of the civic entity, asked those who want to join the march to wear a mask and carry alcohol to disinfect their hands, as biosecurity measures.

For their part, councilors Manuel Saavedra and Israel Alcócer used their social networks to indicate their support and invite others to participate in the march.

“#YoMarcho this Tuesday, June 28 at 6:00 p.m. for #SantaCruz and for our #Family, in repudiation of all acts of violence and drug trafficking. Let’s all go to the student square and let’s make our voices heard,” Alcócer tweeted.

While Saavedra used a video to give his message and appeal to the families: “A march against drug trafficking (…) It is time for us people from Santa Cruz to say again: ‘No more drug trafficking! No more drugs!’ (…) Let’s not allow this to become something everyday and normal”.

His colleague, Lola Terrazas, also uploaded a message: “The fight against drug trafficking begins in the streets, so that the deaths of the three policemen do not go unpunished, for a real fight and with objective results against drug trafficking, join the march”. His publication is accompanied by a statement from the Santa Cruz Community.
