in the following hours Rómulo Calvo, president of the Committee for Santa Cruz, will give the symbolic start to indefinite unemployment by the census in 2023. He will do it from his home, where he is under house arrest, 24 hours a day.
And the official start will be, as usual, at El Cristo Redentor; this time, under the leadership of the first civic vice president, Fernando Larach.
Stello Cochamanidis, second vice president, in contact with EL DEBER Radio, asked the population that will be in the streets and roundabouts to “do not fall for the provocations of those who try to unlock”.
Although Calvo must remain at home, by judicial determination, he will be monitoring the development of the strike, and coordinating with the vice presidents civic, Cochamanidis said.
On the other hand, he argued that no circulation passes; however, he asked tolerance for ambulances, doctorshealth professionals and workers; also for people who are sick or have a health emergency.
He also requested that let the press workers, police officers, military, people who travel -both those who leave, as well as those who arrive by air- and fuel supply vehicles. Cochamanidis recalled that in the strike the city must remain immobilized.
The Civic Committee asks to let ambulances transit during the strike
About food supplythe civic indicated that a commission formed for this purpose has been in meetings with leaders and representatives of markets and supermarkets, and that, in due time, it will be announced how it will proceed in this aspect.
He also referred to the common pots and thanked the solidarity of the people from Santa Cruz who send supplies. He pointed out that the neighbors are organized and that they generally prepare food for everyone nearby.
Hugo Vargas, president of the Association of Paramedics of Santa Cruz, asked the population that is in the streets during the strike days, to let the ambulances circulate; “give way to life”, he stated.
“All ambulances have health personnel and have a credentialwhich is a guarantee not to be entering the ambulances, opening the back compartment and interrupting the patient care procedure”, he pointed out, in time to indicate that this procedure delays the journey until the emergencies that must be attended.
He explained that an ambulance can take up to 40 minutes to reach the place where the patient has the emergency. That “vital” time for a person in cardiorespiratory arrest and bleeding, or for any patient unbalanced,” he explained.
Vargas argued that the paramedical personnel must be uniformed and that you hold a credential that is issued by your association; in the case of doctors, they also have their credential, which is granted by the Medical College. He also indicated that the ambulances have a number and name that identify them.
