Calm returned to Baní because the aftershocks of earthquakes in the area disappeared, where on Wednesday at 7:10 in the morning there was an earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale, felt in much of Santo Domingo.
In the last 24 hours there were no tremors in Baní and according to the records of the Seismology Center of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD)the closest ones occurred at 4:19 in the morning on Friday southwest of Sabana Grande de Palenque, San Cristóbal, with a magnitude of 2.4 degrees.
Also at 1:53 pm yesterday another tremor was recorded with its epicenter in Cambita with a magnitude of 2.3 degrees.

The tremor on Wednesday caused panic in various sectors of Baní, San Cristóbal, Santo Domingo and Azua, but no victims from the telluric movement or collapsed buildings, according to reports from the Civil Defense.
The tremor could have been caused by the San Juan or Restauración fault that begins in the Baní area and extends to Haitian territory.
