Tourism influencer says this would prevent people from getting lost on the trails
HERMANAS MIRABAL.- An influencer and member of the Tourism Cluster of this province, called on both the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources to immediately undertake a vast campaign to mark the different mountains and National Parks of the country, so that losses of people do not continue to occur within them.
According to the prominent tourism influencer Luis Rodríguez, it is necessary to implement educational and signage programs in the interior of the mountains of the Dominican Republic to prevent temporary and lifelong losses of people who use the Dominican mountains to learn about ecological and environmental diversity.
Rodriguez said that this should be a program aimed at marking trails, which should begin as soon as possible, since many tourists, both national and international, are increasingly hiking in the country, and most of them do so without the proper recommendations of using tour guides, which shows a great risk of getting lost for those who do this practice.
In this regard, Rodriguez said that the signage program within the country’s mountains and national parks must be preceded by an education plan on the care of the environment and natural resources, so that those who dedicate themselves to ecotourism have the vision that our habitat must be enriched in the face of the different phenomena that threaten the world with global warming.
“We urgently need our authorities from the Ministries of Tourism and Environment to establish environmental programs for intra-mountain signage, because we recently had to lose a hiker in our Constanza Hills. All of this is due to the country not having an adequate information and communication system on the different trails and in our National Parks, which tells tourists where they should go when they find themselves lost in our mountains,” said Luis Rodríguez.
He also added that in order to make their work a little easier, these two ministries, he recommended, should be accompanied in advance by studies and by the different tourist clusters that voluntarily work on the subject in many of the provinces with this type of vocation.
