For the alleged commission of the crimes of unjustified enrichment and money laundering, to the detriment of the State, the Superior Anticorruption Discharge Prosecutor’s Office requested that four people be summoned to trial; among them the former personal secretary of the former president of Panama, Ricardo Martinelli (2009-2014), Adolfo “Chichi” De Obarrio.
The request of the Prosecutor’s Office is related to Audit Report No. 04-2016-DIAF issued by the Comptroller General of the Republic, according to the unjustified increase in assets of the former Presidential Private Secretary and former Institutional Executive Director of the Ministry of the Presidency (2009-2014 ).
Said report determined that, in the period from July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2015, the former Presidential Private Secretary obtained resources from known sources for the value of B/.1,011,265.15; while the total monetary resources used totaled B/.4,738,235.73, establishing a marked difference of B/.3,726,970.58.
After the request before the Third Adjunct Liquidator Court of Criminal Cases of the Judicial Circuit of Panama, Judge Celia De La Rosa, accepted the term to decide.
