With a team of young exponents of the tables such as Joaquín Díaz Sacco, Dayana Urunaga, Daniel Ruíz Galli, Luis Fernando Rodríguez and Melissa Hicks“La Productora” went on stage on the local theater billboard, headed by John Vincent Gonzalezauthor of the work who makes his debut as a playwright and the director of magin pereira.
It presents a romantic story taking as its premise the figure of the emblematic Paraguayan artist, Maneco Galeano and its main compositions, resulting in an endearing musical of great national flavor.
“It is not a play about guarania, is a musical theatrical work with music of the genre of guaranias and Paraguayan polkas. It is my first play, although the idea and inspiration came to me a long time ago taking my children to and from school when I played them listen to our music”says Juan Vicente González, in conversation with TODAY.
She says that her children did not understand parts of the songs because we used the jopara and they asked her what she said. “Something peculiar happened to me when I put the guarania on them “Ma’erapa reikuase”my daughter asks me ‘what does dad say there?’, and I answer ‘why do you want to know?’, and he tells me again ‘I want to know what it says’ and I answer again ‘that’s the same thing, why do you want to know?’”.
From his opinion, the public enjoys musicals more when they already have a connection with the songs. “I have attended zarzuelas or operas as an audience, they had a great display of scenery, artists and lights, but something did not reach me, it was because I was listening to the music for the first time”.
“I realized that if the public already knows the music, the enjoyment of the show is differentthat’s why I decided to take our polka and guarania music, known to all, but with the intention that it makes sense in the context of history”shares the artist who lives in Spain.
‘La Productora’ integrates a project that is made up of two works, that is, it will have a continuation. “This first part tells us the beginning of a relationship between the characters and that there is a consequence. In the second part, we will already know how that consequence develops and how the character who tells the story is born.
González comments that they hope to go back on stage with the first part in July and August, and then in a short time to release the second part called ‘The Producer (Agency of found loves)’.
Among future projects, there is a documentary about the work, since all the work was documented from the very start of the production. “Thanks to two students in the last year of their degree who are Marcelo Jane and Karina Esquivel. With this work we will show the entire process and skills of putting on a play that begins in Spain and opens in Paraguay”.
Also, another play but for 2024, with a script by Dayana Urunaga entitled ‘Ramona’.
“NOT LEAVING OUR TRUE ESSENCE”
For his part, Magín Pereira, known to be the head of the theater company, Sigils ‘Experimental Theatre’came to “La Productora”, through a close friend who lives in Madrid: “The proposal touched me very closely because I have four brothers who live there”.
With a marked imprint in regards to Stealth, Pereira establishes the difference between the productions of his company and La Productora.
“This work has an already structured script, it is a conventional staging, unlike Sigilos staging where guidelines are proposed from certain themes, building through a laboratory and collective process, which shapes the story, in addition to being itinerant where the public is part of the show”.
The actor highlights the fact of having gone through the experimental, since it “It allowed us to have a more comprehensive base to build from a more interdisciplinary process, keeping in mind that the work asked to integrate disciplines such as singing, dancing, movement, acting and the musical instrument.”
Regarding his experience in this staging, Magín highlights “How wonderful our popular songs, their lyrics, their poetry and their context, give us. It is of vital importance not to leave aside our true essence, our sense of being, our origin, our history, our sense of belonging.”.
“This project represents all that for me, build from my role as an artist always towards our identity. We still have a lot to tell from here from our beloved Paraguay”.
