The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said the vehicle was located in a parking lot, where it is believed that he left it before starting his walk. After the discovery, relatives of the actor proceeded to tow the car, according to the BBC.
Authorities also disclosed recording some iPhone pings from Sands near Mount Baldy on January 15, two days after he was reported missing, as well as a delayed ping from January 14. There were no other successful pings on subsequent days.
So far, there are no further details regarding the whereabouts of the actor, who has been wanted since last Saturday in north Los Angeles.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, through its official Facebook page, warned of the risks in the area: “During the last four weeks, search and rescue teams from the San Bernardino County Sheriff (SAR) have responded a 14 rescue missions on Mount Baldy and in the surroundings. These rescue missions have been for lost, stranded or injured hikers. Unfortunately, over the last 4 weeks, two hikers did not survive after falling and injuring themselves.”
Sands, 65, is known for his roles in popular movies and TV series, such as A Room With A View, 24 Y smallville.
