Next Saturday, March 5, the election of a new dean for the Bar Association (CAL) in the 2022-2023 term, where more than 90,000 members will participate. Five candidates, four men and one woman, participate in this contest, this application falling on the former magistrate Elba Greta Minaya Streetwhich goes with number three.
“Many years separate me from youth and from the concerns of starting to build a career, but I continue to cling to the dream that the world can be better and that it is up to us to continue defending what we believe is fair, clean and beautiful, like dreams. of youth,” says Minaya.

The candidate reaffirmed that the legal profession is “beautiful” and urged young people who are dedicated to this profession to stay “away from the deception of corrupt power and dirty money.”
Likewise, he maintained that among his proposals and first actions to assume the deanery are the reopening of the Polyclinic for the attention of the union members and their families, a work that he carried out in his previous administration (2006), and that it was abandoned by those who succeeded him in the post.
In addition, it proposes the Modification of the Notarial Law so that lawyers can carry out some notarial actions such as the legalization of signatures or the processing of notarial (legal) letters in order to help the population due to their high cost.
Who is Greta Minaya?
Former magistrate Greta Minaya was the first human rights director of CAL and recognized as judge of the year in 1996. The following year she received the Flora Tristán award and, during the period 2002-2004, she was vice president of the Peruvian Association of Women in Legal Careers . In the year 2007, she was awarded the National Character Award.
The prominent jurist and university professor, Grover Cornejo, accompanies Dr. Minaya as vice-dean and Pedro Quispe Salvatierra, as general secretary, together with an outstanding team of professionals who have always fought for a decent CAL at the service of lawyers and the population.
Among the proposals presented by the list led by Minaya that goes with number three are: monitor for the protection and respect of all lawyers in the Judiciary, Public Ministry, PNP, Notaries, Congress of the Republic, Executive Power and the Administration Public.
